The Young Family

This is the Welsh side of my family.

Young Family Tree

Probert Family Tree
The children of Abraham and Florence.

Abraham Young was born in 1887. He served in WWI, and it caused him to have poor health for the rest of his life. He married Florence May Probert in 1922.

Abraham built a home for his family sometime in the 1930's or 1940's. After Abraham's death in 1955, Florence sold the family home, Tredegar Fach, to her daughter Dorothy and bought a small hotel in Newport, Wales. Florence died in 1977.

Barbara Louise Young was born in Newport, Wales, England on June 28, 1923. She
was the oldest of three sisters. According to her birth certificate, her father Abraham was a journeyman bricklayer. She had worked as a druggist's assistant in Wales before she was married.

Barbara met her future husband, Roy Seymour, in the United Kingdom during World War II.  They were married in Newport, Wales on June 11, 1945

When she came to the United States, she had to come by herself by ship.  I've been told that she came through New York City, but Ellis Island was closed by that point.

Barbara and Roy settled and raised their family in Schaffer, Michigan. They had two children.
